My name is Lady Phantom. suffer from depression and anxiety, suffered PTSD after my mother hung herself when I was growing up, and have a history of self-harm, which I started during my 10 years living with my abusive and neglectful father. I honestly thought of suicide every single day. Literally. The only thing that stopped me from killing myself was the knowledge that I would one day be free, and happier.
 

Today I live with my loving partner of 10 years, my children, and am surrounded by people who love and support me. And while I still experience depression and anxiety, I have learned to live with it. I am on medication and will likely be for the rest of my life, and have been to therapy. I am open about my issues and seek help when I begin to have suicidal fantasies, which I still do from time to time. Even though I ‘have a good life’, which I do now, some days the walls still close in around me.
 

I don’t think I can survive without my medication. There is no shame in seeking help. And I urge everyone who is struggling to do so. Your mental health is as real and valid as anything physical.
